The MAC Summer Social was held on a special day, Friday, June 22 from 5:30-7:30PM at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum in downtown Fayetteville. Our theme was “Declassified Missions – The Rest of the Story” and featured first-hand accounts from veterans about their role in some of the most secret missions undertaken by our military.
Our guests were:
CSM (Retired) Kenneth “Rock” Merritt – One of the first members of the 82nd Airborne Division Hall of Fame. He was a paratrooper during the Normandy Invasion of World War II, and also the Battle of the Bulge.
CSM (Retired) Joe Lupyak – the last surviving member of the one of the most carefully planned and executed rescue missions of the Vietnam War – the raid on Son Tay Prison to rescue American prisoners of war. He is a member of the Special Forces Hall of Fame.
